THE MISSION
Not to discredit detoxification, but foster deeper thought into why you may believe in its promises. Here is a quick checklist to guide you in understanding and analyzing your beliefs.
Have you considered alternative practices and/or treatments?
Could the effects be a result of other factors (such as your body's natural healing system)?
Do you assume that effects resemble their causes?
Is the source of information credible in the field of health and medicine?
Have you looked at other (potentially counter) evidence?
Does this belief make you feel good about yourself?
Are you simply attracted to the marketing?
Are the claims narrowly defined and explained? Or are they ambiguous and general?
How has the information been packaged?
Could the information have been exaggerated?

50%
of illnesses for which people seek medical help are naturally cured by the body's own processes (Gilovich, 1991)
STORIES VS. SCIENCE
No clinical research has been conducted on the effectiveness of detoxification methods (Klein & Kiat, 2014)
"lack of peer-review, lack of randomization, lack of control groups, poorly characterized methodology, and small sample sizes" (Allen et al., 2011)
